Questions
What size should a PFP be?
512×512 covers almost everything. It is large enough to stay sharp on retina displays and small enough that no platform will reject it. Drop to 256 or 128 only if a site asks for it.
Can I crop several pictures at once?
Yes — drop the whole batch. Each one is cropped and resized on its own, and the zip comes back with a folder per image.
Will it stretch my photo to make it square?
Not unless you ask. A non-square image gets a warning and a choice: crop to the centre, or pad the short edge with transparency. Stretching is there but it is never the default.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Tap to choose a photo from your camera roll and the same crop and download flow works. Nothing is uploaded from a phone either.
Is there a face cropper, smart cropper or AI cropper here?
No, on purpose. Automatic subject detection is confidently wrong often enough that you have to check every result anyway, at which point dragging the crop box yourself is faster and always right. The circle preview does the job an AI cropper is usually bought for: it shows you what survives the mask before you upload, not after.
Will it crop my picture into a circle?
It crops to a square and previews the circle. That is the correct output, because Discord, Twitch, X and the rest apply the circular mask themselves and expect a square file. A genuinely circular PNG with transparent corners would get masked a second time and lose more of the edge.
How big is a normal profile picture?
512×512 covers essentially everything. Most platforms accept far larger and resize it down, and most display it somewhere between 32 and 128 pixels. That gap is the whole problem with avatars: you choose the crop at 512 and everyone else sees it at 40. Crop here, then look at the 128px output before you commit.
